A Major Event for the River Towns and the Jewish Community

It was a wonderful sunny day that brought dignitaries, children, donors, and community members together to celebrate a joyous milestone on the road to opening a new, full service community center at the crossroads of the River Towns and the gateway to Westchester.

 

It was our pleasure to introduce the future home of the 

 

 

        
Our Early Childhood Program Students sang a song about digging and building.

More than 100 guests celebrated The JCC Groundbreaking, kicking off the anticipated 17 month construction of our New JCC. MC’d By former JCC Chair, Susan Tolchin, a contingent of honored guests led by State Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins, County Executive Rob Astorino, Tarrytown Mayor Drew Fixell, and Linda Mirels, Chair of UJA-Federation of New York, we witnessed the re-naming of the JCC as the Harold and Elaine Shames JCC on the Hudson. Mr. Shames shared his long history and commitment
to the JCC and his desire to provide a community center that will serve for generations to come. JCC Chair Michael Maron expressed his thanks to the JCC’s Board and staff
and the 290 donors who made the day possible.
