When will the new Shames JCC on the Hudson open?

The new Shames JCC on the Hudson opens June 2017!


What do I need to know about pre-sales?

Memberships sales are ongoing. From January through May, 2017 memberships will be sold at rates that are discounted from the full fee that will go into effect in June, 2017. The earlier you join, the lower the rate you will lock into for the coming year. 

Can I use the current Fitness Center between now and June 2017?

New members are welcome to start right away for an additional fee. All new memberships are prorated and will expire in May 2017 before pre-sold memberships become active in June.

 

Shames JCC Hours as of June 2017

Monday – Thursday:  5:30am-10pm
Friday:                        5:30am- 6pm     
Saturday:                    7am- 6pm     
Sunday:                      7am- 6pm     

Fitness center closes 30 minutes prior to community center; (i.e. 9:30 pm Monday-Thursday, etc.). Pool and Kidspace hours to be announced.

 

What types of memberships do you offer and are the memberships paid monthly or annually?

There are three types of memberships available at the new Shames JCC on the Hudson:  Community, Pool, and All-Inclusive.

Community Membership grants access to member-only programs, open gymnasium periods, and eligibility for discounted class fees.  This membership is required to enroll in our Early Childhood and Almost Home after school care programs. Community memberships are a 1 year commitment paid in full and need to be renewed annually.

Community Plus Pool Membership includes Community Membership plus access to lap swim, family swim, and other open swim periods.

All-Inclusive Membership includes all the benefits of the Community and Pool Memberships plus access to our new Fitness center, along with approximately 30 group fitness classes each week at no additional cost, a variety of 50+ pieces of cardio equipment and strength, a functional strength training room and many other fitness services.  

The Pool and All-Inclusive memberships are a 1 year commitment with dues paid monthly.  A one time registration fee may apply. After a 1 year membership commitment, the membership rolls into a month to month agreement. Within the Pool and All-Inclusive memberships, options are available for individuals, families, seniors etc. Please see a membership representative to help pick the best membership for you.

 

What types of Group Exercise classes will you have at the new fitness center?

We have 30+ classes on the group exercise schedule that will be included in the All-Inclusive membership. We are committed to offering the most current trends in programming and to providing high quality, fun and engaging classes. Our class schedule is designed to offer something for every member; all levels and abilities are welcome. We provide classes like Yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi, Meditation, Zumba, Core Training, and Total Body Conditioning. In addition, there are specialty classes such as Pilates Reformer, Nia, and Bootcamp that are available for an additional fee.

 

What kind of equipment is in the fitness center?

The fitness center equipment includes but is not be limited to:

What kinds of entertainment options are available?

Our fitness center is equipped with flat screen televisions for your viewing enjoyment while you complete your workout.  We also provide complimentary Wi-Fi so feel free to work, listen or watch while you are here.

 

What amenities are offered in the locker room?

The locker rooms have lockers for daily use to store your personal belongings. Please remember to bring your own lock or you may purchase one at the reception desk. In addition to the day lockers, there are a limited number of lockers for rent for an additional fee. The showers are supplied with complimentary shampoo and body wash and towels are provided for our members. There is a sauna in each locker room. The addition of a Family Locker Room will provide a new option for our JCC families.

 

Can I bring a guest to the Shames JCC on the Hudson?

Yes!  Each guest has one complimentary opportunity to try the fitness center. Each additional visit is $10 with a maximum of 3 visits.  If a guest joins within 30 days, we will apply fees paid to their enrollment.

 

What is unique about the Shames JCC on the Hudson?

The JCC is your one stop family experience providing an array of opportunities to learn and socialize as well as promote your personal health and wellness through our expanded facilities (state-of-the-art fitness and wellness center) and programming.

FAQs for Current and Renewing Members

Any Perks for loyal members and donors?

Yes! Members in good standing and donors who have supported the Capital Campaign at the Builders' Circle level ($1800) or greater, are eligible for our VIP Charter Member rates during the month of January. Act quickly as this offer will end on January 31, 2017.

What happens to my current membership?

All current memberships will expire at the end of May 2017. If your membership will not be due for renewal before then, any months after May will be credited to your account. Your credit can be applied to your new membership or any JCC program.

If I purchase a new membership do I need to renew my old one?

Memberships during the winter and spring months are separate from those that will begin in June 2017. To maintain your membership status, you may need to renew your membership for the intervening months. All new and renewed memberships will be prorated to expire in May 2017. 

If you are enrolling in any of our member only programs for the fall of 2017 (Early Childhood Program, Children's Garden Center, Almost Home), you are strongly encouraged to lock into the lowest rates available before the end of January 2017.

 

Do I need to pay the whole amount in January?

No. The new membership structure is designed for your convenience. Membership payments collected during the pre-sale period are the equivalent of your first month's dues and will be applied to your new membership in June 2017. Your next membership payment will not be collected until July 2017.

Community memberships will come due in full in July 2017, and will not be billed monthly over the following 11 months. Members at any level may choose to pay any outstanding portion of the annual membership total early, at any time. 

Will I get member rates on Summer Camp?

In order to secure member discounts on camp, membership must be current through the summer camp season. If membership lapses before or during the camp season, camp fees will revert to non-member rates. To take advantage of the lowest member rates available, you are strongly encouraged to discuss membership options with our Welcome Center staff before the end of January 2017.
