Almost Home: Afterschool Fun, Friends & Enrichment!

Looking for a supportive and engaging afterschool program? Almost Home offers children (K-4) from the Irvington and Sleepy Hollow/Tarrytown school districts a warm, welcoming, and well-rounded way to end their school day.

Buses bring students directly to the JCC, where they enjoy a supervised afternoon filled with:

• A healthy snack (provided)
• Time for homework
• A mix of indoor and outdoor activities
• Socialization with friends

A Full-Time Health Specialist On-Site

Want to Swim? We’ve Got You Covered

Our staff ensures a smooth transition for students participating in Swim Team and private swim lessons on a case-by-case basis. JCC staff escorts them to the pool deck and returns them to their classrooms. Please note that kids must be able to change independently.

Program Schedule

Almost Home follows the academic calendars of the Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow and Irvington school districts. We provide care from the time your child’s bus arrives at the JCC until 6 PM—including on early dismissal and half-days! If only one district is closed, Almost Home will still operate. Students from the closed district may be dropped off at 2:30 PM (since school transportation won’t be available).

Almost Home for Children with Supportive Needs

At Almost Home, we foster a welcoming, inclusive environment where all children can thrive. Open and honest communication with families helps us best support each child’s success.

Upon enrollment, families will be asked if their child has any supportive needs (e.g., an IEP, 504 plan, anxiety, mobility restrictions, sensory processing challenges, or other considerations). If so, an Almost Home Director will reach out to discuss how we can best accommodate your child. Information will only be shared with staff who need to know in order to provide support. Our goal is to collaborate with families to ensure the program aligns with what’s most comfortable and appropriate for your child.

Almost Home Dates and Rates for 2025-2026 School Year:

September 2 – June 25 (Irvington) or June 26  (Tarrytown)

Rates: 

• Members: $655 per month for 10 months.
• Non-members: $715 per month for 10 months.

Program Billing

Almost Home is a 10-month program; the total fee is divided into installments that are paid monthly beginning August 1 and ending May 1.

Upon enrollment in Almost Home, you will be charged a $500 non-refundable deposit, per child. Deposits will be applied to your first monthly installment, due August 1 as noted above.

Withdrawal from Almost Home requires 30 days notice. Upon notification, any installments payable within the following 30 days will be charged in their ordinary course. Subsequent installments will be cancelled.
