Introduction to Improv Quilting

Sunday, May 4 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Members: $100; non-members: $120

If you’re a beginner or experienced sewist who wants to learn how to quilt, but doesn’t want to follow a specific pattern, this workshop is for you! You’ll receive advice and resources on choosing fabrics and colors, and guidance on techniques so that you can make blocks without a pattern and create a quilt that is uniquely you!  Machines and fabric are included, or you may bring your own.

Expect to:

  • Get advice and resources on choosing fabrics and colors
  • Learn how to create improvisational blocks
  • Learn different techniques for creating a quilt without a pattern

About the Instructor: Katie O’Brien is a quilter living in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York. Katie uses bright, cheerful colors and lots of tiny pieces of fabrics to create busy quilts that appear in motion. She enjoys the meditative repetition of sewing and the puzzle of fitting it all together. Katie is a member of the Northern Star Quilters Guild. Her work has been on display at Weill Cornell Medical College, the Brooklyn Quilters Guild Show, and in the Red Envelope Show at Harmon Projects.
